Andy Fynn Joins Sompo Canopius as Mining Engineer
Sompo Canopius AG (“Sompo Canopius”) today announces the appointment of Andy Fynn as mining engineer. He will report to Spencer Pearce, head of heavy industry. Andy’s role is to support the heavy industry function in particular by sharing best practice with brokers and clients, and working with them to fully assess risk from a qualified and experienced viewpoint.
Andy is a chartered mining engineer with nearly 35 years of global experience in the mining industry. He joins Sompo Canopius from Hawcroft Consulting International, whose UK branch he set up in 2013. His recent focus has been on servicing the mining industry in the Northern Hemisphere, carrying out risk surveys for underground and surface mines for both multinational and individual mine operators across multiple commodities.

Biography:
Andy Fynn has been in the mining industry since starting his career with the National Coal Board in 1983 and then working for companies such as British Coal, RJB Mining, and British Gypsum. In 2009 Andy moved to Australia working for the regulatory body the Queensland Government Mines Inspectorate as their Senior Inspector of Mines, before joining Hawcroft Consulting International as a Senior Consultant. In 2013 Andy came back to the UK and set up the UK branch for Hawcroft as a Director.
